EPCO is a non Governmental Organization founded in 1987 and registered with the Registrar of Associations on 24th of November 1988, under the provisions of the Registrar of Association Act, 1978, Government of Mauritius, Indian ocean.
EPCO is in consultative status with the ECOSOC/United Nations and UNIDA. EPCO is also working in partnership with other international organisations, such as International Coral Reef Initiatives (ICRIF), and Coral Reef Degradation in Indian Ocean (CORDIO), and is also a member of WIOMSA- Western Indian Ocean Marine Scientific Association and is working with other NGOs such as ARDA (Reunion Island). It is also represented at the National Ramsar Committee and the UNDP/SGP National Steering Committee.
