EPCO is a non Governmental Organization founded in 1987 and registered with the Registrar of Associations on 24th of November 1988, under the provisions of the Registrar of Association Act, 1978, Government of Mauritius, Indian Ocean. It is CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) registered; registration number: N/ 1048.

EPCO is in consultative status with the ECOSOC/United Nations/ DPI (Department of Public Information) and is also accredited with UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change- ) and UNCCD (United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification- ). EPCO is also a member of the GEF NGO Network as well a WIOMSA- Western Indian Ocean Marine Science Association.

“Anou Refaire nou Lacage Orite” (The re-construction of Artificial Reef for Octopus), Project presented at: 6th WIOMSA Scientific Symposium, 24- 29 August 2009, St Denis- Reunion Island.
EPCO’s project “Wise Practices for Coping with Climate Change in Mauritius” was presented at the International Conference on Evaluating Climate Change and Development, 10- 13 May 2008, Alexandria- Egypt
EPCO is now CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) registered. Donations are most welcomed for the implementation of Climate Change Education Project, Poverty Alleviation and Sustainable Development. CSR registration number: N/ 1048.

Recent Projects
EPCO is planning to offer Ecological Outing Tours for secondary school children between ages 13- 15, with the aim of targeting youngsters in order to sensitise them on environmental issues as well as sustainable living.
A project on Community Climate Change Cafe Tour has been submitted to BAI (British American International) for funding 2010.
Beach monitoring exercise that started in 2005 is on-going. After the tropical cyclone Gamede in March 2007, which proved to be beneficial to the Mauritian coasts due to sand accretion, no major changes has been noted in our local beaches.
